I have a brand new BCM 400 and am trying to get a GATM 8 module to stay initialized . I have 6 external pot lines I am attemtping to connect into the system.

Under Resources -> Bus 2:
Programmed Bus Type: Trunk Module
Actual Bus Type: None
Number of busy ports: 0
State: Unequipped

If I disable and re-enable Bus 2, I get:
Programmed Bus Type: Trunk Module
Actual Bus Type: Trunk Module
Number of Modules: 2
Number of busy ports: 0
State: Enabled

After a minute or so... It reverts back to a state of unequipped.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance... Bryan

The Dip switch setting is:

1 2 3 4 5 6
on on on on on on

There are no directly wired phones, we are using the Telephony Manager 2245 to connect our wireless ip phones.

I have only the GATM 8 Module, and it's located in the top Module Bay.

You should really set it as follows

on on on off on off

This will allocate it to Bus 7. You then need to logon to the BCM and under resources-----media bay modules-----Select bus 7 and set as Trunk. If you double click or click on the + beside bus 7 you will see modules 1-4 confirm that the first module is set to loop. That lines will be 61 onwards.

I made the recommended changes to the dip switch settings. I re-seated the card and booted up the BCM.

My configuration is the default DS30 2/6 split.

I navigate down to Bus 7, and attempt to change the bus from Station Module to Trunk, but the drop down menu only has Station Module listed.

Also, I noticed Bus 7 shows:
Actual Bus Type: Station Module
Number of sets: 7
Number of busy sets: 0
State: Enabled

Not sure why I con't see Trunk Modules for bus 7, I have verified the 2/6 split...

Any ideas?

Bryan

I ran a quickstart on the BCM with the Trunk set to use Bus 7, it now stays enabled as a trunk module with 2 modules.

I'm obviously new to using the BCM and am reading through documentation furiously.

I verified Module 1 is set to Loop. Module 3 and 4 are unequipped. What should Module 2 be set as? Set to Loop as default.

Any other steps as a newbie to get my phones working from here? Thanks a ton for the tips on the trunk module...

Bryan

Hi Bryan15370

On my site under downloads there is a basic course for the BCM. In it you will some info about setting up ISDN modules but the principal is the same for GATM.
