I am sporadically seeing truncated data using Crystal 8.5. The recordset returns the full data, but when I view the data in crystal, it is truncated. It doesn't happen everytime or on all fields.

I searched the knowledge base and found an issue where using a font of less than 12pts. can cause this behavior. I changed the font size and it did not resolve the issue. I aslo tried using various combinations of data fields, formula fields, field attributes, with no success. I also downloaded a hotfix referenced in the knowledge base article and that didn't help.

Has anyone seen this or know of a workaround?

I am having the exact same problem. I'm using Crystal 8.5 I tried the font size change. I also applied the most recent monthly patch. Neither has fixed the problem. It occurs in every format - rtf, excel, word, etc. that I ask the Crystal apis to generate. Using the original .dbf as input to the report in Crystal Reports designer looks fine. It is just the files generated by the Crystal Reports apis.

Sorry, I have no solution or work-around - but I would love to learn of one!

I am familiar with this nuisance.

You have to go to the Database menu and Verify Database in order to erase the random truncations. This is a particularly unsatisfactory workaround, as you'll need to verify the database sporadically as you release further retrospective modifications to the report.
