Hello,

I'm using Sidekick 98 on my desktop and want to move the data to my Treo 90 (Palm OS 4.0) PDA. I installed the Palm Desktop software and then TrueSync Plus with the accessor for Palm devices. But I can't seem to get the synchronisation setup to complete.

When I start the TrueSync Plus Starfish Setup Wizard it walks me through the options. I select Sidekick 98 as the desktop application I wish to synchronise. Then I'm prompted to indicated the folder for my data (Userdata). Next I choose 'Palm Devices' as the device I wish to synchronise.

The next screen tells me TrueSync is about to collect information from my 'Desktop Applicaton' and when I click 'Next' a separate box appears titled 'Palm Device Communications' which asks me to press the HotSync button on my device cradle, and the main box tells me it's reading data from my Palm device. My Treo is connected using a USB cable with a 'Sync' button where it enters the Treo. I press that button as instructed but that's as far as it goes. The software attempts to connect but just keeps on going without any success.

I'm wondering if my AvantGo software could be part of the problem. I have it installed for the Treo and when I press the 'Sync' button, the Palm HotSync manager starts and it connects to the AvantGo site and downloads any updates. I thought this might be interfering with the TrueSync process so I changed the AvantGo setup and asked it not to connect to the AvantGo server, but this didn't seem to help matters.
When I 'Cancel' the process I get the message saying 'the Palm device could not be accessed'.

My machine is not freezing, just not ending the wizard process even after five minutes. I'm hoping someone can suggest a solution?

Thanks,

Roy

I think I can now answer my own question:)

It seems that I have to sync through a serial port with TrueSync Plus. So I'll just have to buy one of the Treo Serial HotSync cables and use that.

thanks
