Truetype to Type 1 is a lossless conversion, meaning it doesn't lose anything when converted.
The only thing I can think of to do with fonts to pdf is to go to the Avanced section and try the Subset Fonts at 0% and 100%
0% will embed every character of the font
100% will embed just the characters necessary for the pdf.
The only other thing I can think of at the moment is that you have Type1 fonts on one computer and Truetype fonts on the other computer.
I'm not aware that InDesign does any sort of conversion with fonts on export to PDF, it will embed the fonts used by the system.
The only difference with Truetype and Type1 fonts is that they were competitors; TrueType is an outline standard and Type1 fonts are used in postscript as standard.
