Hi, i'm looking for an HP laserjet all in one, printer, scanner copier and i want to make sure that the network scanning feature actually works as i've had disapointing experiences in the past.

The printer will be connected by an ethernet cable only, PCs will print directly to the printer through IP address, i.e no dedicated print server. I want a user to be able to scan documents to email or folder without any intervention at the PC. Is this possible and has anyone got a printer like this and what are your experiences with it?

I've tried calling HP on this but their responses didn't reassure me.

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

If you don't have too tight a budget I would take a look at a digital sender like the M3027 scan to e-mail or the LJ M3035 that manages scan both to e-mail and folders on the network. Both printer are operationable directly from the display without intervention at the PC.

Info on these here...
M3027 ->
M3035 ->

Thanks for the reply hpwizzard! Budget won't quite stretch to either of those unfortunately, as always management want the earth for as little as possible. It's only for a 2 PC branch office.

I was looking at the 3000 series range
any experience of these?

Thanks

Hi w33mhz, thsnkd for the reply. Have you used the 3550 in the capacity i need, i.e. PC independant network scanning?

Thanks

Ehm... Sorry but a HP LaserJet 3550 is a regular HP Color laser printer with no scan capabilities !

The LJ AiO 3052/3055 tends to be fairly OK and there's not that many issues with these two.

If you however would come upon the need of scanning or printing in color (without fax capabilities) I would recommend to take a look at the CM1015/CM1017 series. Link
Anyway I recommend you take your time and examine the Software Technical Reference manual(s) for any model you would chose so you would know what functions excactly you get.
Just go to the driver/support page, tick in the product number and chose "Manuals" to get them.
Good luck with your printer choice [wink]
