We used Windows HyperTerm to install the E4500 via ttya. After installation, we disconnected the ttya. The E4500 will shut itself down. I talked a couple people who have more Sun knowledge than me. They said the ttya is always needed.

Is there a way to go around this? I need to make the E4500 a true headless server. i.e. no keyboard, no mouse and no tty connection.

Any idea? Thanks.

When you disconnected your Hyper Term machine did you have the E4500 in secure mode? If you did that was probably why the system crashed, try putting the server into "normal" mode before disconecting your Hyper Term.

If you put the entry...
[tt]
set abort_enable=0
[/tt]
...into [tt]/etc/system[/tt], it won't halt the system when a console it attached or removed from ttya.

Hope this helps.
