After searching with various keywords in the forum I decided to post this detailed request. I have seen many scripts for cold and hot backups. But with NT involved!, how about a good lead on a script for hot-backup Oracle8 in Tru64 Unix. The script should do any dismounting or whatsoever and then send messages to the root account regarding the start stop completion success or failure, of any backups.
For instance, if a company called Xvile has all their files in the directories
DB SERVER APPS SERVER
/usr/xvilaappl /usr/xvilaappl
/usr/xvilaora /usr/xvilaora
/usr/xvilacomn /usr/xvilacomn
/usr/xviladata
Mind you, Xvila has a low budget, no money for Hard Drives dedicated to archiving. Archiving is not running here. Only one backup unit is available and in on the APPS SERVER… And you can't just shutdown Oracle whenever you wish.
How about this challenge ah! J
Good Luck.
L8ter!
