Has anyone got BB running on Tru64. If so which client did you use & do you have any pointers which may help for a speedy install.

Its been a while since I did this but I think there was a problem with (one of)the script(s) you have to run (can't remember exactly and I'm not near any of the boxes to check, sorry). There is a list of OS's that BB checks for and compares it with the output of uname, unfortunately the two values are not the same, the value BB has is OSF and uname returns OSF1.

The way to do is to update the value in the script to be the same as uname i.e. OSF1. Then run the install script again.

Then just tar up that install directory and copy it to all tru64 boxes yo want - just saves edit and compiling again.

When I get to one of these alpha boxes I'll post the exact details.

Mike,

Apologies for the delay in getting back to you but this is the first day I've been back in the office for 3 months. The problems I had to workaround to get the server going (having just done it again this morning) were:

in /usr/user/bb/bb1.9e-btf/install

cp bbsys.osf to bbsys.osf1
vi bbconfig and search for osf and replace it with osf1

in /usr/users/bb/bb1.9e-btf/src/minimake

vi genmake and replace osf with osf1
if you have gcc you should be able to build, however if you haven't and need to use cc, change all CC="gcc" to CC="cc" in this file.

Once these files are updated you should be able to do the make , make install bits. Then follow the rest of the README.INSTALL file.

Again sorry for the delay.

Hope this helps

Get back to me if there are still problems.
