I'm a Linux (and Solaris) sysadmin who got stuck working on an old Tru64 4.0d (Digital Unix) server. I don't know anything about Tru64, but there is a problem that I have to fix somehow. Users connect to the server via telnet, but every so often the telnet prompt will not appear, but the server is still pingable but you cannot access it over the network. The console at the server is locked up and the only way to fix it is to reboot it.
There is a core file on the root filesystem...
Is there a patch for telnetd that I can apply? I found patch kit 9 (which I think is the latest) and tried to apply it but I think its already installed because it only gives me the option to install a single printer patch that we don't need.
Any ideas? Does anybody still use Tru64 4.0d? I know its real old and this is the first time I've ever seen it before.
Thanks,
