Anyone know of best way to test for PRI troubles? Any way to STAT D-channel for issues with carrier as with old Nortel switches? I can do a 'PRI show channels' and a 'PRI show span 1' in the asterisk CLI tab under tools but that doesn't tell me much. I have a PRI that occasionally drops calls and sometimes stops working inbound and out although the UCX sees it as up and active and indicates no PRI D-channel errors in the 'full' log and of course the carrier sees no trouble as well. I know I can set up PRI debug but because it's so sporadic my log files will overflow with tons of data. Is there any other commands or tools to test a PRI?

I think your concern about the amount of data in the log files is unnecessary. Asterisk log files are kept on UCx only for the last 5 days and then deleted. Your system should certainly have enough hard disk space to run detailed PRI logging for several days.

To enable PRI logging, you can use one of the following commands:
pri set debug on span X
pri set debug 1 span X
pri set debug 2 span X
pri intense debug span X
I believe the value 1 is the same as "on", the value 2 is the same as "intense".

To disable PRI logging, you can use one of the following commands:
pri set debug off span X
pri set debug 0 span X
