Hi,

We've been having oodles of trouble making PDFs from pagemaker files for our magazine. Scouring information sources, we've finally been able to make them, IF we don't make a booklet first. But we must. Has anyone run across anything that would help us troubleshoot this problem? Errors and solutions for them making PDFs from booklets?

Thanks

Booklets is the one permuation I gave-up on. I put it all into one big file (6Mbytes and that with only "linked" images). It had benefits with hyperlinks or my limited understanding of it at least.

Another problem is editing fonts in Acrobat - what should I do to prepare the text/fonts settings/options in distiller/whatever - any ideas - maybe a thread on it's own. It seems to be so basic I should have spotted this one.

The Find function does not work as a result - should I be messing with indexes?

I occasionally get problems if the save history is too long. Save As clears it. Is this already taken into account?

Do you mean booklet, or book? The 2 terms mean 2 different things. The booklet utility is a page imposition application. If the doc is going to press, which I assume if you are making a PDF, allow the printer to use their much more robust imposition software.

If you mean Book, which links several documents into one virtual doc, the best way to create PDFs with booked docs is to Print to .ps file one doc at a time, them use distiller to create the PDFs and link them into one PDF using Acrobat.

PM's Export>PDF feature is weak at times. When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
