Hi there! I'm trying to find out what's wrong with my PC and I could use your opinions. My configuration is as follows:

Code:
CPU:
    Intel Pentium D 820
Cooler:
Stock Box Cooler (Fan + Radiator)
Mainboard:
    Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI
Memory:
    Geil 2GB PC2-5300 DDR2-667 Dual Channel Kit
Storage:
    Western Digital WD2500KS / LG GSA-H10N
Graphics Card:
Leadtek WinFast PX7600 GS TDH Classic Edition
Sound Card:
    On-Board
Display:
    Samsung SyncMaster 795DF
Case:
Delux DLC-MF/MG420 with Stock 450W Power Supply and three 8 CM Fans
OS:
    Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate

About one month ago my PC started to suddenly freeze, mostly when I'm playing, but also sometimes when I'm watching a movie or simply browsing. I blamed my graphics card, since I have a feeling something's wrong with it. Even before these freezes started, my graphics card would sometimes display horizontal lines across the screen, to the right of areas with text or to the right of windows. Unfortunately I cannot provide a picture of these lines since they don't show up in Print Screen and I don't have my camera at the moment.

I made an experiment today with Everest, but I don't see anything unusual at the time of the freeze (see the logs here ; the last entry is at the time or right before the freeze; during the whole time I was playing TimeShift with medium settings).

Some people have made me think the problem could be with my power supply or even with my RAM (though memtest didn't produce any errors).

Any help will be appreciated!

Start with your video card as it sounds suspect, then go from there to other possibilities.

If you haven't tried the latest driver for your video card, I would try that first (since it's free and easy) and then maybe borrow a video card from someone or put in a cheap PCI video card. That would isolate the problem away from the video card or point to it. The lines on the screen make me suspicious of the video cafd for sure though.

If the problem points away from the video card, I'd pull half the RAM and run with that for a while. If problem continues, swap out the other RAM to verify memory is ok.

I'm assuming you aren't overclocking the machine like crazy since you didn't mention that.

I do have the latest driver. Nothing is overclocked and has never been since I got my PC.

I'm going to try and get another video card to see if something changes.
