I have installed an old isa 3com nic peripheral into my pc clone system running 333Mhz Celery with 256MB of ram under Win98SE. I finally managed to get the card installed , loading the following services & protocols:

Client for windows
netbui
tcp/ip
file & printer sharing

My issue is that I can not see the other computer attached via a certified crossover cable ; cat 5.

you need to make sure you are using the right irq and base address settings for the card these are stored on a rom on the card the only way to find these out for defo is to download the diag disk from 3com also a common one is that the default settings are irq 3 base 300 and the irq conflicts with com2
