We recently change our DAT with a Sony AIT 1 turbo 40/100Gb SCSI on a W2K server (HP ML310).It has been recognize easily by our Arcserve 2000 - we can format or erase the tape from ArcServe - but when we launch a new job we get the error E3714 can not write on media...
We check the files, the destination (group0 etc..)everythings seems ok (we still have an other server with a DAT and A2K we can compare)
Any ideas ?
Thanks

what is the complete message?
It would help to have a tape log for that error.

Not clear what is going on. The error code of 3xxx means it is from Task. However the ec= COMMAND ABORTED or COMMAND INTERUPTED indicates something at the drive or Tape Engine end.

Check for updates.

If they do not help then put the Tape Engine in debug mode and lets see what is in the log.

Thanks for your advice, we update these :
NT -DEVICE SUPPORT UPDATE SP5
NT -ARCSERVE 2000 SERVICE PACK 5

The problem stay the same

What's the debug mode ? is it in arcserve ?

Check the FAQ section of this forum. Debug instructions are there. Also look at Which Driver Should Be Used.

You should check your device in the Certified device list for AS 2000 and the firmware. also check the SCSI card driver....

We had a big problem with our Sony AIT 3 tapedrive (see thread
I've posted my solution there, maybe it can apply to your situation as well. One problem remains after a reboot of the server: Windows wants to re-install the hardware and this can cause the same problem again. I haven't found a good solution for that one yet.

Just to keep you informed :
The problem seems to be hardware, our tape drive had been changed by Sony (it doesn't succeed all the diagnostics shipped with the drive by Sony)
The new one works correctly without reconfiguring anythings...
Solution could be : check all the diag before going into ArcServe.
Thanks for the answers
