Greetings,

I recently converted a company over to a Win2k Server, which was formerly a peer-to-peer network. One of the applications that two of the workstations used was an old DOS app (First Choice). One of the two workstations had all of the data files. On the second workstation, I set a share on the 'server' workstation to be the working directory. This worked out fine. However, now that I have the data on the Win2K server, I can't open some of the files. The DOS app basically uses two file types. One is a simple *.doc file, and the other is *.fol, which I believe is a database file. I can open the *.doc files from a workstation with no problems, but when I try to open a *.fol file, the app gives the messasge "Enter a valid path and file name". Even if I type in the full path, I still get the same message. I know it's an old app, and they should probably replace it, however for now I still have the problem. Any ideas?

Brian

Are you trying to access the file via a UNC path? If so, try mapping a drive to the share and then accessing it as if it were a local path.
Doug
dxd_2000@yahoo.com
