trouble with slackware 9.1 and framebuffer ??

OK! I recompiled my kernel after install, and my framebuffer doesn't work anymore, it is perplexing.
in my lilo.conf file i have vga=773 (which i believe is 1024x768x256 ?) and my video card is a matrox millennium PCI variant, but I do know it supports this resolution, because i ran it just after install, but can't find out why it doesn't work now. it is just odd.

yeah, nevermind, with a little bit of research, and a review of my .config file for my kernel, i realize i was using CONFIG_FB_MATROX=y instead of CONFIG_FB_VESA=y and that was the problem. thanks though.
