Trouble with PostScript Fonts

Gang,

I had to resurrect & update an old MS Publisher 2000 file, to mail out to our entire town (10,000 + residents.) Of course, the printer wanted an EPS file.

I busted my butt messing around with installing a generic PostScript printer driver, in order to save the file as a *.ps, to then be opened in Illustrator to be saved again as an *.eps.

The PostScript file opened OK in Illustrator...all the artwork was intact.

But prior to opening, I got hit with a Font replacement warning, whereby Illustrator could not recognize certain fonts...which would be replaced.

The result was a jumbled mess.

But, here's the thing: The fonts were common "True Types"...Garamond, Franklin Gothic Book, etc. These fonts are all in my \WINDOWS > Fonts\ folder. Publisher 2000 recognizes & writes them. Illustrator itself even recognizes & writes them.

What could have happened?

I tried to figure out Adobe Type Manger, but could not. I did manage to stumble upon the folder \PSFONTS\ by navigating around on the Settings Tab, but are the abovementioned fonts not PostScript fonts?

If not, can they be converted somehow with Adobe Type Manager?

Am I even on the right track?

Thanks,

SonicMax

Update...

It wasn't anything to do with embedded fonts. I went to my commercial printing tools options in Publisher; & all those fonts were set to be embedded with a file save. So I tried it both ways (embed & not embed)...but neither way worked.

Guess I'm going to need help on this one.

Thanks again,

SonicMax

A true type font is not a postscript/type1.

Ill can save as or export eps. You should not need a PS print driver for this unless your printing a postscript file.
