I just recently switched to CS and have had some trouble with layouts. I'll try to explain the problem...

when exporting a pdf the resulting file shows overlapping where one master page is adjacent to another master page within a spread (covering up information). the problem doesnt appear at all within indesign, everything looks fine - it only shows up in the exported PDF. everything looks fine when i export a jpeg as well (i really need a pdf though) i thought at first that i must have created objects that spanned across both pages on my masters but that isn't the case. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!!!!

Kind of hard to understand if you're sure that you don's have any items overlapping and any bleeds set too large.

I assume that you also don't have 2 different masters applied to the same page.

Try selecting the Press setting for the pdf export and see what happens. That has the highest tranparency flattening.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

Sure that has happened to me too while laying out a report.
But I realised that when you slightly move 'the object', which is overlapping or that should not be showing when you apply a different master page onto that page, the next time 'the object'will not appear when you export to pdf.
But this leaves a gap and it may not look good in the design.
So what I did was to use the Transform pallets' proxy to set the overlapping image just exactly where the 'the object'will be at 0 on the x-axis.
When I exported it, I found it had worked.
So just try out that you perfection.Good Luck.
