trouble with email merge in office 2003

I have been able to send Mail Merge emails via imap with Office2000 professional and Outlook Express6. I have recently updated to using Office2003 and am getting 550 error message, and no joy with the emails. In fact it doesnt contact the imap account. What is best way of overcoming this hitch?

Life...It's difficult not to take it personally.
