I am having one devil of a time trying to insert a record in a remote database when I have a character field containing a date (mm/dd/yyyy). I have thought of every combination to place in a variable but to no avail.

The databases I am working with are: Microfocus Cobol and Btrieve 6.15. Microsoft tech support tried to help but they were equally unsucessful in inserting a record to the remote database if the variable contained a date and needed to be inserted into the remote database.

Any suggestions?

I'm not familiar with the databases you are working with, but these formats are suitable for some of those with which I have:

1) '2000-01-01'

2) '100-01-01'

Try the first; if no success, try the second (assuming year 2000; if 1999, use the format: '99-01-01')
