I am using Excel 2007, and want to conditionally format a range of cells based on the value of a cell within that range. The range is $A$1:$K$2 and my formula states that "=K2>0.99".

I know how to do this but my resulting format condition is only applied to the very first cell of that range, A1.

Why is that? What am I doing wrong?

hi,

if the expression ONLY refers to one cell, then you have to make the expression for only one cell (absolute), otherwise it is just as if you copied this experssion and pasted it into each cell in a range: that is RELATIVE.

=$K$2>0.99
