trouble with ATi Radeon 7000 card

Whenever I attempt to play video files (avi,mpeg,wmv and DVDs) WMP opens the first frame of the video then the image hangs while the sound continues to play. This is happenig with all my other media players too, often causing the entire operating system to Freeze. No error messages ever appear.
My OS is windows 2000, but another different card works well on my PC. So I am sure it is the problem of ATI card, either hardware problem or driver.
Any ideas anyone ?

Sounds driver related since it's affecting multiple players. I've used that same card in Windows 2000 before, so I know it's compatible.

Try removing it completely from Safe Mode, then reinstall after rebooting.
