A customer of mine bought two new computers with Windows XP and Office XP small business edition (without Access). The network person then installed Access 97 on both of the machines. The business application I support is written in Access 97. There are many many problems that occur now (on the two machines only). Some of them are:
1. Date fields on reports come up as #Name?
2. Date functions come up as #Name?
3. Landscape reports are only printing as Portrait.
4. Trim, LTRIM and RTrim are bombing out all reports.

The rest of the client machines are running Windows 98 and Office 97 with out a hitch.

Anything anyone can provide would be gratly appreciated.

Thank You

Tom

I suspect you need a runtime file from '97 also installed in \Windows\System

MS no longer tells us the what and where of needed files. It would be too helpful.

I will look for it and get back if successful.

a chap named David put this in the dbforum. That's all I can vouch for as for authenticity. Many others has seen your problem

I am going to take a guess here, and suggest that

1) Install the application and get it running from a
admin login, so that it works for all users.
2) Find MSAccess.srg and delete the contents (do not
delete the file), so that Office 2K /Office XP don't
destroy your runtime installation again.

Why MS should release software that destroys
existing applications built with previous versions
is beyond me.... hang on, no, that actually makes
sense doesn't it....

If someone gives you a tip of value, clcik him/ her a star.

check to ensure that you don't have issues with lost links to Reference Libraries.... Open a code module in design view.... click on Tools - References... and look for anything with "MISSING" at the front of it... Unclick and then reclick the CheckBox.
