Trouble to setup Router with DSL

I bought a Belkin Router (DSL/Cable) and intend to use it
for my DSL connection. The 'easy setup' failed to work after a few tries. I don't know it this has something to do with the DSL provider. It reqiures running a connecting software to connect, along with a user id/passwd. I used cable modem connnection before and it didn't use any software (no user id/passwd, too)

Does anyone have similar experiences (fail to connect using a Router with a DSL provider)?

Now I'm using a wireless network which is slow. I know I could use two NICs to do this, but I need to know how to
make this router work. This router works if I use is as a hub on the MS home networking.
Thanks.

Your DSL provider is probably using a PPPoE connection. You'll need to access the router settings (usually by entering the IP address of the router in your browser, like 192.168.0.1 or similar), then somewhere in the settings you'll see something like "connect using PPPoE". Make sure that is checked, then enter your full user name and domain (billsmith@usa.com) and your password for your corresponding email account. Make sure to save the settings, and you should be able to connect.

Of all the things I've ever lost, I miss my mind the most......
