trouble strating the MTA in 5.5 after running optimizer

i have had trouble with exchange 5.5 after running the optimizer. after compleation none of the services would start. I have managed after a great dea of file moving and messing to get all he services but the MTA to start. this return an internal nt error 2149. I have been advised to recopy the MTA files fro disk.is this the bes way.

Have you tried re-running the optimizer and chosing to have all the files moved automatically?
