I have been experiencing terrible static on our Long Distance PRI. The static seems to be sporadic, but when it occurs its terrible. I have tried to get our users to call me immediately when it occurs so I can trace the port that they using and try to isolate the problem. Is there anyway to trouble shoot the DS1 card and their respective ports? I currently have a G3s with Multi Vantage 11.

Thanks.

I always do list meas outage (choose yesterday, today etc.)this should show you the trunk and members that are having trouble. You can always status trunk 1,2,3,4 etc. to see if you have any disconnections there. On my dmarc I have had instances where the member will say disconnected but a call will hit the bad member and get static, noise. Have you also done a disp error or disp alarm?

list measurement outage" will only show u if a trunk is out of service, not if it is having static. Do "list measure ds1 xxxx" for the board that is related to the trunk in trouble. Also, if u look at "display errors" and put in the board number it might indicate a particular channel. Usually it isn't a particular channel, as all the channels are on the same physical line. U more than likely are getting slips caused by a provider problem, or a syn problem in your pbx. Do "display syn" and it should be set up to syn on your most stable t-1, or to the master switch in your pbx network. Then do "status syn" to see if it is in fact syn off of this t-1. If it says "tone board" then none of your t-1 will ever run well. The pbx must be synched off of a t-1 if it has one.
If nothing is wrong in the pbx, have the provider do a stress test in the middle of the night when u don't have calls.

orypecos has you in the right direction. Sounds to me like a faulty card at you CO. I have had to resolve this same problem from time to time. It is never their problem, but they finally change out the card and the problems mysteriously go away. I have also had them monitor traffic across my T-1 to find which channels are in trouble. They may work with you.
