I've emailed a file which was exported as a pdf from Quark 7 for Windows. This is what he says happens:

"I can't get it printed. And the page that does come out, has only two and a half columns printed and then another page brings up the balance of the first page. No other pages then are printed. Even this first page takes a good 15-20 minutes to finally come out. In addition, it takes about 15 minutes to actually download your file into my desktop."

He is able to download and print a pdf file which was exported from Quark 6.0 for Mac with no problem.

What could be the problem?

Hi chaya770
What do you mean export for Windows as opposed to just export to PDF.
I think PDF is just PDF and works on any platform as long as you have Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader.
I just exported a file from Quark 7 to PDF (using OS 10.4.8, and saw no options to export for Windows, and the file printed out fine on my HP laserjet.
Does the exported PDF print ok on your end?
Are you using AOL to email the file, sometimes AOL will compress and corrupt attached files.
Can you post the file somewhere online for d/l so someone could look at it?
Hope this helps

TO: IMacQuarker:

What I mean is I have a Quark 7.0 for Windows file which I exported as a pdf and emailed it to someone. He's having the problems I described with it.

Someone else has a Quark 6.0 for Mac file which she exported as a pdf and emailed it to the same person. He has no problem with that one.

I understand what you're saying -- you would think that a pdf is a pdf is a pdf. So, why does he have trouble with mine and not hers?

Thanks.

Hi chaya770
OK now I understand.
As I asked do you email the attachment with AOL and how large is the file?
If you both have AIM you might IM one another and send the file direct through AIM or if you have a web site you might upload to your site and let them download.
If the PDF file prints OK on your Windows machine then it should print OK on theirs unless it's getting corrupted somewhere or their machine is messed up.
Every so often I do an obituary for a church in Quark 6.5 on the Mac and export as PDF then email attachment through AOL to a printer who is on a Windows machine and he prints it with no problem. If I get another one before my Quark 7 fully functional demo expires I'll export from 7 and see if he can use that.
Hope this helps

Have you tried down-saving the pdf to acrobat v6 or earlier?
