A database origionally created in Approach 97 was upgraded to Approach 9 (ME). This has worked fine for months but now it wont open. I recieve the message "This file was last saved with a previous version of Lotus Approach. Do you want to convert it to Lotus Approach Release 9? (Earlier versions of Approach will not be able to read this converted file)" I then get the options of yes, no and help. No takes me out of the file Yes gives me this message "Couldn't find the Powerkey for the database". With the options ok and help. I select ok and it takes me into approach to open a new database.
I have tried opening the database in an older version (97) but the same message comes up.
Can anyone help me open the databasse?

This I'm afraid is a "bogus" message indicating the apr file is corrupted. Do you have a backup?

Running a 97 file in Millennium doesn't convert the file format. 9.0 and 9.1 only use 97 format anyway. 9.5 - 9.8 create and save files in 97 format and only prompt you to convert to 9.5 format on first use of the Dialog Editor; never when the apr is opened.

It's also worth testing the apr on another PC or from the local hard drive if it was originally on a network PC. Sometimes a hardware problem like a faulty network card can cause the apr to load incorrectly and produce this message.
