I've got a Windows Server 2003 machine and all of my workstations are running Windows XP. The server is on a domain, but the workstations are not part of any domain. The user names and passwords are the same on both systems.

I want certain users to be able to map a drive from their workstation to their "My Documents" folder on the server. The mapping works only if I add the user to the "Administrators" group. I could have sworn that in the past, I've always been able to map the drive using "\\servername\C$\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents" without making the users administrators.

Any idea as to what I should check?

Is there a reason not to add the PC's to the domain?

Thanks,
Andrew

Do these users have domain accounts with the same name and the same password they use on the local machine?

Thanks,
Andrew

Yes, there is a reason why the PC's are not part of the domain. It's a long story, so I won't go into it at this time.

Yes, the users do have domain accounts on the server with the same user name and password as the accounts on their local machines.

c$ is the adminshare, you need admin rights to logon. why do you use c$?

Lemon13, if you have a different way for me to accomplish what I need, feel free to share.

You should create a share for the users to use, not an admin share.

Thanks,
Andrew
