I have a home network with 2 computers (Peer-to-Peer). I also have an Iomega Network Hard Disk that is attached to my network via my netgear router. What I would like to do is allow my wife and myself to see the same contacts, and assign certain tasks to her, using automated processes.
Ideally, I'd like to install the database on the Iomega Network Hard Disk, and then have each of us run locally installed versions of GoldMine (for performance).
I went through the installation guide and ran into trouble pretty quickly. For example, the instructions stipulate that I should uncheck the Database Engine (and check workstation setup files). When I do that the install crashes saying surprisingly that "the BDE is not found" or something along those lines.
If I just do a normal install, create the database on the shared device, and then attach it to both locally installed setups, we can both see the data. But when I assign tasks to my wife's login, it does not show up on her computer.
Help!
I appreciate any help you guys and gals can shed on this problem.
Thank you.
