Trouble IMPORTING into MYSQL !

Hi All,
I'm trying to import either a .xls or .txt or .dbf file from my desktop into my database MYSQL. I've been trying to import using MYSQL FRONT and have had no success. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, i'm struggling big time.
