Trouble importing audio

I'm having trouble importing sounds for cast members. Since I have iTunes on my computer for my iPod, they import as .acc. Also, if I try and import the audio straight from a CD, they import as .cd4.

What does Director support in the form of audio? Is there a way that I can convert them back to mp3 or wav?

Supported audio file format: AIFF, WAV, MP3, SWA, AU, WMA

I got the audio to import as .wma, but it doesn't show them as audio files. I can't use them as sprites in the sound channel.
