trouble displaying/clearing subfile from screen....

I am using indicator 40 for the keywork SFLDSP in the DDS for my display file. Alternately, N40 (off) is used with SFLCLR. In my program, I turn indicator 40 on and write the subfile control format. This works fine, the subfile is shown on the screen like I want. BUT turning the indicator off and doing a write again does not clear it from the screen.

Is there something I'm missing? I am fairly new to this (still digging through any AS400 subfile/DDS books I can find!), so any help would be appreciated. Hope I explained this OK.........

Found it! Well, actually I asked my boss-he found it. For anyone who's interested (although you guys probably knew this too), the "problem" was that I was also using the OVERLAY keyword in the DDS for my subfile control format. When that ISN'T specified, the subfile is cleared from the screen just by turning off the indicator (in my previous post) and doing a write of the control record.
