Trouble converting Pagemaker 6.5 to InDesign 2.0

Opening my Pagemaker 6.5 document in InDesign 2.0 crashes it every time. Does anyone have any idea why or how to avoid it?

Sometimes it's helpful to open the document first in PageMaker and fix some existing problems such as missing links or missing fonts, then convert to InDesign.
