Hi all.
I am having trouble using the SQL Server Enterprise Manager to connect to a named instance of the SQL MSDE on our web server. We are currently running the MSDE on a Windows 2003 Server and the instance is named NETSDK. I have had no trouble using Enterprise Manager to connect to it at work. In fact, I was connected to it not two hours ago to transfer a database that I was hoping to work on from home. Now I have just installed a dev version of SQL Server at home and can not connect to the web server's MSDE.
I have tried to connect using just the server IP (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx), but this obvioulsy results in the Invalid Instance error. But when I try connecting using xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\NETSDK I get the message: "Specified SQL Server not found". I am really confused about this as I am using the same login credentials as at work but can not seem to register the remote named instance.
Is there anything that I may be overlooking?
Regards.
Stephen.
