I am trying to extend my wireless network to my neighbor across the street.
I have a linksys wrt54g wireless router set up in my house. Works great! I also have a Microsoft MN-700 wireless base station that I am trying to configure as an access point (this will be placed at my neighbor's house).
This is the breakdown...
WRT54G
-Serves as my wireless router
-I have assigned it a local IP of 192.168.1.1
-Runs DHCP
-WEP and SSID settings are set
MN-700
-I have changed the MN-700 to serve in access-point mode.
-I have assigned it a local IP of 192.168.1.2
-I have assigned the correct WEP settings.
-It has the same SSID as my wrt54g.
-I have disabled DHCP
I connect my laptop into the MN-700 and can't ping the wrt54g or get Internet connection. The MN-700 gives my laptop a weird IP address. So I put in a static address and still nothing. Do the SSID's need to be different? Is it something to do with the WAN side of the MN-700? I have it set to dynamic.
Thanks for the help.
