Hi all,

I wanted to image a R5 disk for our stock.
I downloaded the files from avaya.
Used acronis to create the new drive. No trouble so far.

But when i use the new drive in a spare bcm50 R5 It won’t boot.
After a brief moment the power and system led turn orange and stay orange. The fan keeps turning at full speed.
With the original drive it boots fine.

I used multiple drives to make sure the drive is ok. And again downloaded the image from avaya. never got it working

What am i missing? Any ideas?

Greets BlueStuff,

just image a BCM450 R1 drive.
Tested it. The bcm450 R1 powerd up perfectly.

Not sure what is going wrong on the bcm50.

Thx for your reply.

The system is dos not get there yet.
The bcm50 will not respond to a ping, on the console port.
putty can’t connect.

It sounds like a BIOS problem?. What version of Acronis did you use for the Avaya versions ar release 5?. I've been using Acronis 2009.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Hi BlueStuff!

Does the bottom LED turn green for about one second, then it changes back to amber (i.e., both LEDs are solid amber) and nothing happens after that? If that's the behavior you get, the most likely cause is that the BCM50 main board does not recognize the hard disk. If it is a SATA III disk, change it to SATA II. If it's larger than 250 GB, change it to something between 40 GB and 250 GB.

Good luck.

Thx ucxguy,

You’re spot on. That exactly what happens.
When I use an older 80 GB drive it worked like a dream.

The drives I used are not that large, about 160 GB
But they were all sata 3.

Many thx,
