trouble adding adapter in netcfg

Unixware 7.1.1

We are unable to add an adapter in netcfg.
We keep getting duplicate channel names.
How do we get around this?
What is the actual file that netcfg uses?
We are trying to manually edit this file.
Thanks.

If you haven't figured this out yet, this should be the file you are looking for:

/etc/confnet.d/inet/interface
