Until recently, my team and I used Crystal Reports 10 Developer to design our reports. With this edition, we were able to access the server repository without any problems.

But this has changed. We’ve been downgraded to the Professional edition of CR10 recently. And unfortunately, this version seems to have problems when handling the repository. In particular, two symptoms have reoccurred...

1.) When we click on the “Set Datasource Location” and click on the repository folder in the “Replace” window, we get the expected dialog box. Next we choose a command object then press Okay”. At this point we get an error box that says “crw32.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created”.

2.) When we click on the “Database Expert” then use the “Add to Repository” option on the command object listed in the “Selected Table” window on the right, we get the familiar “Add to Repository” dialog box. After giving the object a name and selecting a destination folder, we press the “Okay” button. Again we get the same error dialog mentioned above.

I am convinced that this problem occurred because of some missing functionality in the professional edition, even though the techs at BO assure me that there is no difference as far as functionality is concerned.

In any case, I was wondering if anybody else ran into this problem and what solutions they may have used?

Thanks in advance,
TxKnight
