triming spaces

When i submit information into my database via a form it places spaces in any field I leave blank or if I have a 15 char limit and only put 10 it will fill up the remaining 5 with spaces. How do I stop this?

configure ur database properly. make sure if u have not set any minimum length or 'required' options to the fields.
