Hi all,

I have been using Adobe Illustrator and Macromedia Freehand which both have a color called 'Registration' which does not add it's own color to the file but lets you put in trim and fold marks where desired and they will appear on every color plate for offset printing.

Quark Xpress and Adobe InDesign do this very well also.

I am working for a printer who has Corel Draw (version 10) and have created a file, in Corel Draw, which has three spot colors - so I need just three colour plates. How do I get my trim and fold marks to appear on each plate without them being a specific colour?

I am not talking about creating registration marks in the print dialog window.

Thanks

Creating the marks in the print preview is the usual way but if you want to put them on manually you can either put hairline marks where you want them and colour them 'registration colour' this is found at the bottom on the cmyk pallette list - OR goto download the free VBAs 'tiling and cropmarks' either or both are worth having. Tiling can make your job multi up and add marks - crop mark will just put marks round a selected object - both will put marks in the registration colour.

ah, now, here is my problem. I can't find registration colour anywhere in Corel Draw. I have the Default cmyk palette list open and have been up and down and there is no color called 'Registration color' At the bottom of the list I have 100c100m100y100k which is no good as it creates four new plates. Also, my default cmyk palette has had some spot colours added to it and I can't figure out how to remove them.

cheers

Just looked on an old computer with V10. Your marks need no fill just a hairline goto the 'outline' tool - outline colour dialogue - models tab - bottom of the list = registration colour. Sorry I think I might have misled you on earlier post (memory not what it was)

To remove a colour
tools - palette editor - choose colour and delete
