Folks,
First I'd like to say that I'm not a SAN guy, I'm a DBA so I'm sorry if this is a stupid question.
We have a ~60 Gig file which is sitting on a LUN on a SQL Server (it's a backup of a large database). We are currently copying the file via Windows to another server so that it can be restored nightly. As you can imagine this process takes a very long time.
We do know that we can use the SAN Copy function of our Clarion to make a copy of the LUN and move it to the other server (both servers are attached to the SAN).
The question is can we trigger the SAN copy to start and attach the LUN to the other server from the command line of one of the host OSs in an automated fashion.
