can anyone help me create a trigger to limit the number of records in a table? Some told me that is the only way to limit the number of records in a table, but I do not know what is that (trigger) and how to use it.

MySQL does not support triggers. According to this page from the online docs

http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/ANSI_diff_Triggers.html,

MySQL should support them sometime after version 5.0.
