Tried to start PC got disk read err

Tried to start PC got disk read error on startup running XP pro.Tried to do a repair install but it tells me that the drive is unpartitioned.I had very important files on the Drive that i had not backed up.(A lesson learned).Is there any way to try and repair the drive or recover the files.
The old partition was NTFS not FAT

The only way is to use a third party recovery service or software at this point.
