Hello everyone,

1. of all: Thanks for this great forum for sidekick. I have read a lot of it by now and it has really helped with all the experience posted here!

Now my question - and I can tell you, that I think I have tried all what was posted here:

I have XP and sdk98 installed together with the patch downloaded from , copied it "the right way" (at least I think), first extracting it into another folder, than tracking it over to the Starfish/Sidekick 98/program - folder, but the to do forward still does not work. Do I have to wait for it another day? I tried to work with the INIT file, too, but no result.

Does anyone know anything more to try? I really would like to start using Sidekick, which I found looking at (Motorolas) Truesync desktop - I have this installed, too? Can there be problems with this?

I hope anyone can help me. If there is noone here, than there probably is no help to get... by now hoping!

Kind regards,

Lars

Dear Lars,
The Patch has always solved the problem before, but you must delete the 2 files from the sidekick program folder first and THEN drag the 2 files that you have extracted from the patch zip into that folder.
Post the text of the init file here.
The Motorola desktop should not interfere but I don't think I would run them at the same time (why would you)?

Dear James,

thanks for helping so soon. I tried it again in that way - which I havn't tried before, just said yes to the question of overwriting the old files - and it doesn't work.

I wonder, if the forwarding only works, if the day has past?! I have just, 15. April 9.59 in Denmark, Europe, done the following :
- write a to do the 15. April
- look at the 16. April
- there is no to do
- back on the 15. April there is a to do

- tried the same with the 22./23. April
- there is a to do the 22., but none the 23.

My INIT file looks that way:

You see, the date is 15. April, Days to auto forward is set to 30, and Auto Forward is 1.

Really hoping for your help as I would really prefer to use Sidekick.

Many greetings and kind regards,

Lars

Ps.: I would not use Truesync Desktop, if Sidekick was working. I use Truesync Plus to sync my mobilefone. Now I have to decide to use Outlook or Sidekick. I really would like to use sidekick, but.... without forwarding it is not that good. Inclusive forwarding I think it is much better than Outlook.

Hi again,

could it be, that the patch is one that is not working? I got it from

Maybe this is the reason? If it always has worked before...
Or could it be, that the XP Home Edition, which I use, is the problem? That the patch works with XP Professional?

ARGHHHHHHHH. I start getting angry and despairing.

Dear Lars,
The todo will/should forward to tomorrow, tomorrow!
What I mean is that you do not need it to show up on tomorrows date until the date(today) is tomorrow.
Wow(!) that sounds strange but do you get my drift?
See tomorrow if it has forwarded.
Post back to let us know...
Regards
Jim

Dear James,

I thought it would be something like that. But... this means... the program is perfect!!! Not blocking my to do list of a future day with things that probably will be done - like Outlook - but thinking for me and "forcing" me to see, what I have done.

Thank you very much for helping. I will post about it again tomorrow.

:-] Very happy now!

Greetings from Copenhagen,

Lars

Jep, just a last ansvar - in this thread;-) : It works pretty good now. It's what Jim/James said. It does forward - tomorrow!

Thank you very much for all that help!

Kind regards, Lars

To james33,

Being yet another hapless soul trying to hold onto my SK98 with a death grip, I recently migrated to XP and discovered the "TO DO Not Updating" problem.

Using the info on this thread, I was able to find the download I needed and fix the problem.

Thanks for taking the trouble to keep the needed info current. Once again I'm getting my kicks!

Dear JFTI,
Why Hapless soul, it works better than any similar method, does what you want it to do, it doesn't make huge files(economical) and you are used to it.
Before we became used to
i.constant revisions of
ii.large unwieldy corporate solutions
iii. When all you want is something for personal use.
Would you not rather call yourself a discriminating user...
With a soul!
Regards
Jim
Who is not in any way prejudiced...

I switched to XP a few months ago and ran into some trouble re-installing Sidekick 98 so gave up and starting using Outlook's Calendar function. After months of frustration I again tried installing Sidekick 98 and this time it worked! Like you though, I found my To Do's will not forward, I too downloaded the patch and did a correct install but To Do's still won't forward. Hope somebody thinks of a solution because there is no PIM that is the equal of Sidekick.

Dear jimbob2,
The solution in every other case was to follow the instructions given on the Patch page to the letter.
Otherwise post again.

Regards Jim

Dear Lars
Carrying forward of the To Do list seems to be the only problem associated with Sidekick 98 running under XP that I have experienced. I nearly gave up, but because no other PIM came close to providing what I wanted and I couldn't find a single alternative to import the files, I gave it one more shot and re-installed after udating XP with Service Pack 2. I then re-entered all the To Dos and Bingo!it worked. A subsequent re-install of XP brought the problem back, but I followed the same approach and, again, this solved everything. You can check to see if the To Dos carry forward by altering your PC date to the next day. It is worth a try, but I guess that because no 2 PCs are configured the same, some folk may find that this does not work.
