Hi ,

ACCPAC 5.2, MS SQL Server, All Modules , Latest Service Packs.

There was a blunder made with regards to the GL Segment codes.

The GL Account Structure is as follows :
1.Account
2.Branch
3.Division
4.Income Source

Originally the segment codes for Branch were entered in the following mannner :
01 Branch # 1
02 Branch # 2
03 Branch # 3
04 Branch # 4
05 Branch # 5
06 Branch # 6

But somebody has accidentally changed this order while trying to add some new segment codes. It now looks like this:
00 {blank}
01 Entire Organisation
02 Branch # 1
03 Branch # 2
04 Branch # 3
05 Branch # 4
06 Branch # 5
07 Branch # 6

It should actually have been entered as:
00 Entire Organisation
01 Branch # 1
02 Branch # 2
03 Branch # 3
04 Branch # 4
05 Branch # 5
06 Branch # 6

The incorrect setting has been in place for the last 3
months.

My assumption is that if we change it to what it should be there should be no problems because none of the settings in the subledgers (e.g : Account sets, Categories, etc.)
were changed.

The company does not use stock items therefore the location override feature in IC also becomes null.

So would it be advisable to make the correction without any impact on the set of accounts ?

You mean changing the segment 2 descriptions? That will not make any difference to the data, it's just changing a description.
Now if transactions have been posted to 01 and you want them to change to 00 it is a different story. You either need to do journal entries or use GL account code changer for that.
