I am aware that there are triocks and shortcuts using microsoft word. Could any one please supply me with the tricks and shortcuts?

In WordXP if you go to Tools, then Macros you'll see which macros are available and currently being used. These are considered shortcuts. You can also pull each menu down and certain tasks have a command next to them (ex. Alt F4). I know you're looking for a list, but thought this might help.

Hi tombodu!

These might help you get started learning shortcuts. Everyone has their own favorites so I'm sure there are many more than listed here. Have fun!!

I too use quick-keys/neumonics/shortcuts quite a bit (don't know why I avoid the rat so much)
In OUTLOOK
CTRL+SHIFT+A = New Appointment
CTRL+SHIFT+K = New Task
CTRL+SHIFT+M = New Mail Message
CTRL+SHIFT+J = New Journal Entry
CTRL+SHIFT+N = New Note
CTRL+SHIFT+C = New Contact
CTRL+SHIFT+V = Move Items
CTRL+SHIFT+B = Brings up Address Book
CTRL+SHIFT+S = New Discussion
CTRL+SHIFT+D = New Call
CTRL+SHIFT+F = Advanced Find
CTRL+SHIFT+G = Flag For Follow Up
CTRL+SHIFT+I = Moves you to your Inbox
CTRL+SHIFT+O = Moves you to your Outbox
CTRL+SHIFT+Y= Copy Items
CTRL+SHIFT+R = Reply to Highlighted msg (same as ALT+R)
CTRL+SHIFT+E = New Folder
CTRL+SHIFT+Q + New Meeting

There are a ton of them in the whole Office Suite (and Windows itself).

A lot of them I found by fat fingering and stuck with them :)

Here is an easter Egg

Type =rand(50,5) and press enter in MS Word and see what happens.

Enjoy.

Hi vbindia,

Not sure why you posted that here. It isn't really an easter egg - it's a quick (admittedly undocumented) way of generating random text in a document for testing - the first number is the number of paragraphs, the second the number of sentences in each paragraph.

Enjoy,
Tony

Hi Tony,

I posted it because the subject of this thread is 'Trick'in MS Word. And I think this is a trick to some of the visitor of the thread, because it is undocumented, but sorry for calling it an easter egg.

Again I want to say that It was given under the easer egg section where I found it.
Thats it,

Bye,

vbindia

Hi,
Search in Word help for "keyboard shortcuts" - will get full list (hundreds!) by context and by key. Just read and learn most convinient for you.

Hi vbindia,

You are correct - it is a reasonable place to post what is, in effect, a shortcut.

Enjoy,
Tony

Just realised this is a really old thread but for info I thought I'd post this thread link and the site the thread relates to

thread68-463686

8:05 on my birthday and I've nothing better to do than this. How sad????
;-)

If a man says something and there are no women there to hear him, is he still wrong? [ponder]
The faqs ma'am, just the faqs. Get the best from these forums : faq222-2244

Yeah, Loomah! Happy birthday!

My absolute FAVORITE Word shortcut:

F4 key

Go ahead, select some text and bold it.
Select some other text and hit F4.
Now...
If you have to repeat bolding a bunch of times, you can use your left and right hands to do it very quickly.
It only repeats one command tho. So if you want to format paragraphs, apply a style, then hit F4 when you click in other paragraphs.
