Ladies and Gents,
I'm having a trendline moment here. I have a few column charts that display totals by month through the current date. I added a trendline, but being that the data tracks through the current date, it gives an inaccurate impression that we are trending down for the first three weeks of each month (due to lack of data). Is there any way for the trendline to cover all data points except for the last (most current)? Thanks in advance.

JB

Can you clarify? The first three weeks of EACH month trends down, which you don't like, but you want to exclude the CURRENT data point? I don't understatnd. So, every month, the first three weeks trend down and then the last week it pops up? Etc. If this is a stock, I'd sure like to know its' name. What trendline are you using?
Also, having one of my advance degrees in applied math., I'm hesitant to exclude data points in a trendline. That's called fudging. Sounds like you should be using a polynomial equation. If you're using Microsoft's built=in trendlines, in some cases they're not adequate. You may need to create your own equation describing the curve.

Sorry about the data spaghetti there.

Basically, I enter in the number of trucks that my plant loads each day. On a column chart report, I have the totals displayed by month. The trend line is linear, and today it displays Jan through April 2006. Unfortunately, with this being the 10th, the data for April is pulling the trend down. I would like to back the trend line off of the last data point on the chart (April) and show the trend through Mar (current month - 1).

Does this help?

Thanks.

Take a look at:

What it does is basically sends the data through a parameter query first using the between function for the dates.(between [enter a start date] and [enter an end date])

Then when the form is opened, the user enters the dates which creates the chart. Then a button is clicked to add the trendline. It works pretty good.

Of course, this won't plot up to current, but then plotting that point wouldn't be appropriate anyway since it's not a "final result".
