Hey All-
We've had a nice tape backup unit here for quite some time collecting dust - just starting to use it. Low and behold, only a few short days after backup up, I need to restore a few files. Here's the issue:

When I go to "Restore by Tree", I can see the entire tree structure, but there are no files. If I go to "Restore by Session", the tree structure is broken across multiple sessions (due to incremental backups), however the files are all there... in one place or another.

Is there a way I can click on a directory in the Tree View and see the files contained in that folder... and pick certain files to restore?

If I click Tree View, then search for the file... it shows up in the search results, but when I click "Go To File", it just brings me to the directory (which it says "there are no items to display in this view").

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi
To "Restore by Tree", and if you want to see the entire tree structure you need first to merge the tape from Mnager-->Utilites-->Merge,after merge job fisnish then you will be able to see the sntire tree.

Thanks for the tip - however I'm still having a bit of trouble. I went into the Merge utility. Which session(s) do i choose? I started by choosing my latest session, and clicking "Merge". It took about 8 mins, then came back and said "Merge Incomplete - 0/2 Errors/Warnings".
I went to the tree view to see if it worked, and there's still no files listed. The Merge log shows all of the files in my backup as being processed, but nothing in the Tree View.
I guess i'm not exactly sure what the merge is supposed to be doing, or where I'm going wrong. Any help much appreciated, thanks!

Hi
1-We need to know what the error exactly you are getting while merging.

2-Merge is reading the Catolg file from your tape and add the file/folder list to your Arcserve database.

3-Maybe you have a database coruption and you need to run database utilites to fix them.

4-what is the size of Arcserve Database folder

5-Are there any files start with r* in database folder

6-Are there any files in temp folder which is in Arcserve
if there any files run Mergecat.exe and try to merge again
