Hi everyone,
been asked to resolve a printer issue.
Trying to have a DOS app direct its printing to tray 4 on a 5Si. Am sending what I think are the correct esc codes, but no change..all print to default tray 2.

Experimenting with a locally installed HP5 with an extra tray on a Win95 pc, my changes work fine, can select either paper source by changing the esc sequence.

The 5Si is on a network connected by way of a NetPort Express print server. Been told it passes through everything to the printer, yet I cant seem to select a different tray.

am sending the esc (27) followed by &I5H
also tried esc (27) and &15H

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Printing through external NON HP printservers can NOT allways be expected to work properly as most of them doesn`t support bi-directional communication required by the printer to communicate properly with the host. To determine if this is the issue, connect printer directly to PC with parallel port set to ECP mode on PC and bi-directional mode activated in the driver.

You say that you've tried:
esc (27) followed by &I5H
esc (27) and &15H

The correct sequence for tray selection is:
Esc & l # H (0x 1b 26 6c # 48)

where:
# represents the required tray identifier (I don't know whether '5' is the correct value or not);
the third character is lower-case letter 'L' (not 'I' or '1').
